Weather analyst Jawad Memon predicted on Saturday that Karachi is likely to experience another cold spell, with temperatures expected to dip into the single digits by the last week of January.

"A southern winds system is intensifying in Sindh, expected to bring chilly and icy winds to several districts of the province, including Karachi," predicted Jawad Memon.

He stated that the system would begin influencing Karachi from January 24 and continue until the end of the month, with temperatures expected to drop to between 8-10°C during this period.

However, Memon attributed the upcoming winter wave in Karachi to a southern system, which is expected to enter Pakistan on January 21 and continue to have impacts until January 23.

Under the influence of the system, several regions in Pakistan will experience rain, while mountains are expected to be covered with snowfall.

Sindh's Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and other districts are likely to experience light to moderate downpours, while the weather remains cloudy and cold during this period.

Sharing today's prediction, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) expects Karachi to experience intermittent strong winds today with a speed range from 25-35 kilometers per hour.

The Met Office recorded a 14°C minimum temperature in Karachi, with a forecast of a gradual decline to 12°C in the upcoming three days.

However, with the gusty winds, the air quality index remains a concern in Karachi.

The city was reported to rank sixth among the most polluted cities globally, with particulate matter levels recorded at 174 micrograms per cubic meter.
