Karachi residents are gearing up for chilly weather as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted light rain and drizzle in the metropolis starting tomorrow (January 4).

The Met office, in a video statement, said the port city's temperature is likely to drop in the coming days as Karachi will witness winter showers. 

The minimum temperature of the city was recorded at 17°C last night (Tuesday). The maximum temperature of Karachi is likely to go up to 26°C to 28°C today.

"[...] Due to stable atmosphere, prevailing dense foggy conditions will continue over Punjab including Islamabad, plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh," the statement issued by PMD on its website read.

The Met office said that a rain-bearing westerly system is likely to enter Balochistan on January 4 and may affect parts of Balochistan till January 5.

"Light to moderate rain-wind/thunderstorm (with snowfall over hills) is expected in Chaghi, Quetta, Chaman, Ziarat, Qilla Abdullah, Qillah Saifullah, Loralai, Pishin, Mastung, Zhob, Kalat, Musa Khel, Kharan, Harnai, Sibbi, Noshki, Khuzdar and Makran coast on 04th and 05th January," it added.

The minimum temperature was recorded in Lai (-11°C ), followed by Skardu (-9°C), Gilgit and Gupis (-6°C ).
