Karachi experienced the chilliest night of the year today, with the temperature dropping to 12 degrees Celsius, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The cold has intensified in the port city, with the minimum temperature falling to 12 degrees Celsius, the lowest this January.
Comparatively, December witnessed the lowest winter temperature at 11.5 degrees Celsius.
The weather department said that on January 14 last year, the minimum temperature dropped to 6 degrees Celsius.
Although this winter has been relatively less cold, it predicted that the ongoing cold wave will continue for the next two to three weeks and the temperature might decrease further in the coming three to four days, potentially reaching a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius.
However, the PMD assured that the cold spell won't be as severe as in previous years. Looking ahead, Karachi can expect dry and cold weather in the next 24 hours.
The anticipated minimum temperature ranges between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius, providing a milder contrast during the daytime.
