Karachi lady police officer caught on camera demanding bribe from fellow cop

A female police officer was filmed demanding a Rs70,000 bribe from a fellow cop who attempted to process a complaint at a police complaint cell in Karachi.

The female official demanded a Rs50,000 bribe for her superior officer and requested an additional amount to be divided among her subordinates.

In the video, the policewoman told the complainant, who was also a police officer, that the issue could not be resolved without a bribe.

The complainant stated that he only had Rs30,000 to pay. The policewoman refused and insisted that the complainant pay the full amount to have the police pursue his complaint.

"I need at least Rs5,000 for each of my subordinates to keep them quiet, otherwise they will tell others," she said in the video.

Later, she reduced the bribe amount to Rs60,000, saying that she would get rid of her two subordinates.

Authorities took notice of the viral video and ordered the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Farrukh Raza to submit a report on the incident.

SSP East Farrukh Raza said that four women officials of the complaint cell were suspended and an inquiry was launched into the incident.

According to police sources, the complainant was also a police officer who visited the complaint cell in relation to his own case.
