Karachi police on Friday revealed new details in the investigation against alleged drug kingpin Anmol alias Pinky, saying authorities have uncovered possible links to a wider transnational narcotics network involving foreign nationals and local facilitators.
Addressing a press conference at the Central Police Office, Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG) Azad Khan said investigators had gathered information suggesting that several foreign nationals from African countries were allegedly connected to the network operated by the suspect. According to police, six to eight foreign individuals currently based in Lahore are believed to be involved.
The senior police official further stated that some women residing in Lahore were also allegedly part of the network, which investigators suspect may extend beyond Pakistan’s borders. Authorities are now examining the possibility that the case could evolve into a transnational organized crime investigation.
Anmol or Pinky was caught earlier this week when police and intelligence agents raided her apartment in Karachi. She has two cases against her. One for having drugs and the other for having a gun without a license.
On Wednesday a court, in Karachi gave police three days to question Anmol and investigate further. Police are still searching for others who might be part of this group and are raiding places and gathering information to catch them.
