3 cops among 4 lose lives in late-night attack on Kohat checkpost

Three policemen were martyred while a citizen was killed in a terrorist attack on a police checkpost near Lachi Toll Plaza on the Indus Highway in Kohat district on Wednesday.

In the late-night attack, over ten terrorists targeted the checkpost, leaving four people dead.

The martyred policemen included Lance Naik Constable Amjad, Lance Naik Constable Junaid and Constable Waqar. A resident of Lakki Marwat, Noor Muhammad, was also killed in the attack.

Upon receiving information about the attack, a heavy contingent of police reached the site, initiating a search operation to apprehend the miscreants.

The attack came two days after a vehicle carrying policemen on polio duty was targeted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mamund tehsil.

Seven policemen were martyred in the incident.

In another incident on the same day, a soldier was martyred while an injured militant was arrested following an exchange of fire between security forces and militants in North Waziristan.
