Lahore Zoo has added 29 animals from five species, expanding its collection from 726 to 755 animals, birds and reptiles. The number of species has also increased from 112 to 116.
The new arrivals include five Burchell’s zebras, two Arabian oryx, 10 mouflon sheep, three hog deer and nine spotted deer, with both male and female animals among the additions.
Lahore Zoo Director Dr Ghulam Rasool said the additions would strengthen species diversity while providing visitors with improved recreational and educational opportunities. He said arrangements were being made to ensure proper food, healthcare and welfare for the animals.
The new arrivals are expected to attract greater public interest, particularly among families and children. Visitors welcomed the development, saying a more diverse collection could provide children with better opportunities to observe wildlife and learn about different species.
