MQM founder Altaf Hussain was hospitalized in London after his health reportedly deteriorated, party officials reported in posts on X.

According to the party’s statement, Altaf Hussain was taken to a local hospital on Sunday after experiencing weakness. Doctors examined him and initiated a blood transfusion on medical advice on Sunday night as part of his treatment.

According to MQM officials, physicians conducted an initial medical examination and admitted him for further care and a more detailed assessment is expected to be carried out on Monday to determine the full extent of his health issues.

Hussain’s supporters and party leaders have been sharing updates and appealing for prayers for his recovery.

Altaf Hussain founded the MQM in 1984 to represent the Urdu-speaking community that migrated to Pakistan after the 1947 Partition and has played a central role in Sindh urban politics for decades, largely from London through speeches and broadcasts.
