The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested four people in South Punjab for allegedly selling sensitive personal data of government officers to foreign entities.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, NCCIA Director General Syed Khurram Ali said that the group had been involved in obtaining and selling confidential information, including call records, CNIC details, and passport data of important government officials.

The arrested suspects were identified as Arshad Tariq, Arham Bari, Anam Sabir, and Mohammad Rizwan. Forensic analysis of their mobile phones has already been completed as part of the investigation.

According to the NCCIA chief, the suspects were allegedly sharing the information with foreign intelligence agencies, describing the case as an example of “organised espionage and cybercrime.”

He said cases have been registered against the suspects over the illegal transfer of sensitive data outside Pakistan. Investigators are also examining official institutional email accounts to determine how the data was accessed and leaked.
