No military operation underway in Tirah, say security sources

No military operation is being carried out in Tirah Valley and that action against miscreants is underway through intelligence-based operations (IBOs), media reports said on Friday, citing security sources.

During a briefing to media representatives in Karachi, security officials said that there is no full-scale operation underway in Tirah. Terrorist elements have formed an alliance in the valley, and intelligence-based operations are being conducted to dismantle all such groups, the reports said.

They added that Pakistan has achieved self-reliance in drone technology and is also working on advanced anti-drone systems in view of ongoing regional conflicts.

The reports said that operations against terrorists are being conducted on the basis of intelligence inputs and will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.

The security sources further said that reports about a military operation in Tirah are false and baseless. They claimed that the nexus between terrorists and criminal elements has been exposed, adding that people are now able to recognise those who use the slogan of deprivation to justify acts of terrorism.
