Mayor Murtaza Wahab conducted late-night visits to various parts of the city to assess drainage preparations following the first spell of monsoon rain in the port city. He expressed satisfaction, stating that no complaints of waterlogging had been received.

He toured areas including Defence, Clifton, District South, and nearby localities. In addition, he reviewed the situation around key government buildings such as Governor House, Sindh Assembly, and the Supreme Court building.

Speaking to the media, Mayor Wahab stated that most major thoroughfares in Karachi remained clear after the rain, with no major complaints of water accumulation reported.

He added that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) teams, equipped with machinery, remained active on important roads and in sensitive areas.

According to the mayor, roads such as Shahrah-e-Faisal, Sir Shah Suleman Road, I.I. Chundrigar Road, MA Jinnah Road, Nursery, Tipu Sultan Road, Tariq Road, Karsaz, and surrounding areas were completely cleared of water.

However, in contrast to the mayor’s claims, several areas, including Hassan Square, Civic Center, Liaquatabad Post Office, Guru Mandir, and the vicinity of Seven Day Hospital on MA Jinnah Road, experienced waterlogging.

These locations lacked proper arrangements to drain rainwater even after the downpour had ended.

In response to the situation, Mayor Karachi has canceled the leaves of municipal services staff and directed them to stay alert for further rainfall and drainage duties.
