An Islamabad court on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi after he failed to appear in a case linked to allegations of spreading misleading claims against state institutions.

The hearing was held at the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad before Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah. During the proceedings, the court took notice of Afridi’s absence and ordered his arrest.

The judge directed law enforcement agencies to take the accused into custody and present him before the court at the next hearing. Afridi is facing charges in a case registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

According to the case, he is accused of making misleading statements against state institutions through online and electronic platforms.
