The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released statistics regarding fuel usage in the country, revealing that a majority of the population relies on wood for cooking food.

According to the report, almost 52.72 percent of the country's population burns wood for cooking food.

In addition to wood, other fuel sources used for cooking include dung, which is burnt in over 1.4 million households, and kerosene, which is used by 45,000 households.

However, the report also noted that 42.03 percent of households across the country have gas available for cooking.

Moreover, the report highlighted that 392,000 Pakistanis cook food from other sources.

The statistics also shed light on the country's drinking water habits, revealing that only 6.38 percent of the population drinks water from filtration plants, while 1.47 percent prefer to use bottled water.

The report stated that 46.07 percent of the population uses motor pumps for clean drinking water and 4.13 percent rely on wells for their drinking needs.
