Pakistan calls on Afghanistan to prevent its soil from being used for cross-border terrorism

Stressing the need for peace and stability in the region, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s demand to Afghanistan to ensure its soil is not used for cross-border terrorism.
Addressing the SCP summit in Kazakhstan, Premier Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working to gather with the world to strengthen SCO as an active and integrated regional forum.
The PM also expressed the need for collaboration, as to him, only unity could assist us in achieving common objectives of peace and prosperity.
“As leaders, it is our responsibility to rise partisan geopolitics and join hands to secure a peaceful and prosperous future of people,” he said.
He said it was time to turn words into action by investing in the connectivity of SCO regions through efficient transport thoroughfares for a reliable supply chain.
“Achieving lasting peace in Afghanistan is a lynchpin to this common objective,” he said.
“The international community must meaningfully engage with the Afghan government to meet their genuine economic and development needs.”
He demanded Afghanistan’s interim government they had to take concrete measures to ensure their soil was not used for terrorism against any other state.
Premier said in all its forms, including state terrorism, should be condemned in clear terms as there was no justification for killing innocent people.
Shehbaz Sharif also invited SCO members to the homeland, “Pakistan looks forward to welcoming the SCO family at the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad this October,” the prime minister added.
