Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to separate itself from the parliamentary penal formed to select the new Chief Justice of Pakistan after the CJP Qazi Faez Isa, who will retire on October 25.

The committee will meet for the first time on Tuesday (today) at 4:00pm, and the members of the upper and lower houses will select one candidate from three, including Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, and Justice Yahya Afridi, nominated for the CJP.

On Monday night, a statement was issued announcing that PTI had decided to withdraw from the parliamentary panel responsible for appointing a successor to CJP Isa.

“Strict action will be taken against the members who cast their vote against the party policy in approval of 26 amendments,” said chairman PTI Barrister Gohar.

The notification quoted the discussion that occurred in the party meeting, “top brass has decided to suspend the membership of the people to ignore party policy during 26 constitutional amendments,” Gohar added.

“The party has issued show cause notices to the MNAs, who have disconnected with the party since the amendment,” he said.

Moreover, the top leadership of PTI said the parliamentary members of the party will be said to clear their position about their intercourse in governmental sections, and “their response will determine their permanent membership in the party.”

However, the party has suddenly changed its decision regarding its representation in the parliamentary committee.

Previously, while talking to a private news channel, PTI chairman, Barrister Gohar, stated that PTI would not boycott the committees. “We would send our representatives' names for the committee,” he said.

Earlier, PTI’s Barrister Gohar Khan, Hamid Raza Khan, and Barrister Ali Zafar were added to the committee.
