Quetta acid attack victim to receive treatment in US

The Balochistan government has decided to send Dr Mahnoor Nasir, a female doctor who survived an acid attack, abroad for advanced medical treatment, according to media reports.

Chief Minister’s Adviser Shahid Rind said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Chief Minister Secretariat has issued a formal letter to the relevant authorities to initiate arrangements for her treatment overseas.

Dr Mahnoor Nasir is currently receiving medical care at a private hospital in Karachi where her treatment is expected to continue for another week, officials said.

Authorities confirmed that she will later be shifted to the United States for further specialised treatment, with the provincial government already initiating the required procedural and logistical steps.

The Balochistan government said it is mobilising all available resources to ensure the best possible medical care for the victim.

Officials added that the decision reflects the provincial government’s commitment to providing advanced treatment facilities to victims of violent crimes.
