The body of a seven-year-old boy, who drowned in a sewage drain in Rawalpindi, was recovered on Friday from Leh Nullah near Gawalmandi, nearly eight kilometres away from the incident site, after a three-day search operation.

According to officials and rescue sources, multiple rescue agencies, including Rescue 1122, had been conducting continuous search operations since the child went missing. The body was eventually spotted during the ongoing operation near Gawalmandi and retrieved from the stormwater drain.

Rescue teams pulled the body out of the nullah and handed it over to the relevant police authorities after completing initial procedural requirements. It was later moved for legal formalities, after which it was expected to be handed over to the family.

With the recovery of the body, the three-day search and rescue operation was officially concluded.

Officials said the body reportedly travelled approximately eight kilometres through the drainage system before becoming trapped in debris near a bridge in the Gawalmandi area, where it was finally located.
