All government and private schools in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are set to reopen tomorrow (Thursday) after a three-day closure due to the protest call by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf.

The decision to reopen schools on Thursday was announced by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi after the authorities launched a clearing-up operation, forcing the PTI protestors to flee the protest area.

“Schools to reopen from tomorrow (Thursday). Mobile internet will be restored by today (Wednesday) morning,” he announced.

Schools in the twin cities have been closed since Saturday due to the November 24 protest announcement by the PTI.

Parents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have voiced concerns over the extended closure of schools due to protests, citing its negative impact on the academic progress of their children. Many parents feel that students have suffered significant setbacks in their education.

While online classes were encouraged in some areas, parents argue they were not a viable substitute for in-person education, especially for younger students

Life in the twin cities had returned to normal on Wednesday morning as all road blockages were removed.
