Section 144 imposed in Karachi for IDEAS security

To ensure security during the IDEAS defense exhibition at Expo Centre Karachi, authorities have imposed Section 144 from November 18 to 24.
According to the notification issued by Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi, the authorities have temporarily enforced section 144 to ensure security and smooth operations during the event.
Under the notification, all types of gatherings, including protests, rallies, public sit-ins, as well assembly of more than five individuals, are prohibited for the said time.
The move is aimed at ensuring the security of local and foreign participants of IDEAS, and the temporary measures have been designed to prevent disruptions and ensure the safety of attendees.
Earlier, the Sindh Education Department had announced the closure of educational institutes located at Shahrah-e-Faisal for four days from November 19 to 22. Moreover, the education institute at Habib Ibrahim Road will also shut down during the defence exhibition.
Section 144 has been imposed on a request from the additional inspector general due to security concerns.
Over 330 delegations from 55 countries are expected to participate in the 12th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS).
The event will wrap up with an air show at Sea Views Nishan-e-Haider Park on November 22.
