Apple CEO Tim Cook gifted US President Donald Trump a customised plaque with a 24-karat gold base at Oval Office on Wednesday.
Trump held a new conference alongside the man he once called “Tim Apple” and praised Apple’s pledge to invest an additional $100 billion in US jobs and manufacturing.

The move brings Apple’s total planned investment in the country to $600 billion.
Describing Apple’s contribution as “historic,” Trump highlighted plans to build what he said would be the world’s most advanced smart glass production line. The company is expected to source the cover glass for its iPhones and Apple Watches from a Corning facility in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
During the announcement, Trump invited Cook to explain more about the Kentucky project.

The Apple executive took the opportunity to unveil a commemorative gift, a decorative object resembling a large silicon wafer, mounted on a gold base and engraved with Trump’s name.
“This is a one-of-a-kind piece,” Cook said, noting that the item was designed by a former US Marine corporal now employed by Apple. At current rates, gold trades at over $3,300 per ounce, according to Reuters.
