Shah Mehmood Qureshi shifted to hospital from jail due to heart problem

Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi was shifted to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) after reportedly experiencing heart-related health issues. He was under detention at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore at the time of his transfer.

According to Qureshi’s lawyer, the former foreign minister complained of chest discomfort early in the morning and was shifted to PIC after Fajr prayers for medical evaluation and treatment. 

The lawyer stated that the move was necessary due to the seriousness of his condition and that the jail authorities acted promptly.

The jail administration informed us that Shah Mehmood Qureshi had to be taken to the hospital due to heart complications,” the lawyer said, adding that the PTI leader’s family has also been notified.

Qureshi has been in custody since last year in connection with the May 9 violence cases, which involved widespread protests and clashes following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan from outside the Islamabad High Court. 

He was arrested alongside several other senior PTI leaders and has remained in jail as investigations continue.

Hospital sources have yet to issue a formal statement regarding Qureshi’s condition, but sources suggest he is undergoing a full cardiac assessment.
