The Sindh government has declared the dog's grave a protected heritage site. The grave is located between the borders of two provinces, Sindh and Balochistan.

The decision was made during a meeting of the provincial culture department. Following the meeting, the committee issued a statement, stating that the site has been approved for protected heritage status alongside other heritage locations in Sindh.

The "Kuttay ki Qabar" is situated at the border of Qambar Shahdadkot in Sindh and Khuzdar district in Balochistan, at an altitude of 7,500 feet from the sea.

In 2018, the location sparked controversy between the two provinces as authorities in Balochistan accused Sindh of occupying border areas, which contained natural resources.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sardar Khan Chandio claimed that it has been Sindh's territory since the British era, supported by evidence from a survey of Pakistan.

PPP stalwart Nisar Khoro also stated that Sindh would not compromise on the issue.

It is known that the area has gas reserves and is home to both Sindhi and Balochi communities.

According to BBC Urdu, archaeologist Dr Kaleemullah Lashari described the tomb as being built in ancient times, made of stone like other classical tombs. The tomb is situated at the top of a hill and is not easily accessible.
