The Sindh government is continuing to expand its public transport network, with the procurement of new buses underway as part of efforts to improve commuting facilities across the province, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said.
In a statement, Memon said the Sindh Transport Department is in the process of purchasing additional buses, adding that several vehicles have already reached the port, while approval has been granted for the acquisition of 500 more buses.
He said providing improved and affordable transport facilities to citizens remains a top priority of the provincial government.
The senior minister said that alongside improvements in public transport, the provincial government has fully computerised the motor vehicle system in Sindh.
As a result, no vehicle is now allowed to operate on roads without a computerised fitness certificate, he added.
Memon also said that the Health Department has issued clear instructions to ambulance services regarding the use of sirens and emergency lights.
According to him, ambulances are permitted to use sirens and lights only while picking up patients or transporting them to hospitals.
He said the measures are aimed at improving road discipline, ensuring public safety and strengthening the overall transport and emergency response system in the province.
