In a commendable move towards acknowledging the pivotal role of teachers in society, Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur has directed all police officers to "salute and honour" educators across the district.

A notification issued by the district police, quoting DPO Shafiullah, said that "the teachers are builders of a nation and a teacher has a very important role in any civilised society. While it is impossible to deny the role of the teacher in the development of the country."

"In Islamic teachings, [the] teacher has been given the same status as [the] father. Those who do not respect the teacher cannot progress," the high-rank officer added in a notification.

DPO Shafiullah instructed all police officers, from constables to senior ranks, to greet teachers warmly and accord them top priority at police stations, police posts, and checkposts, with immediate attention to resolving their issues in accordance with the law.

Furthermore, the top police officer urged a considerate approach even in the case of minor infractions by teachers on the streets, advising police personnel to issue polite warnings and handle such situations with respect.

"These directions be read out to all officials in daily briefing and roll calls. The supervisory officers shall ensure the compliance in letter and spirit."
