WhatsApp has rolled out a new beta update for Android users, introducing a feature called Chat Animation.
The feature, available in version 2.25.1.10 of the app, allows users to control the animations of emojis, stickers, and GIFs in their chats.
This update is currently in the testing phase and can be accessed by users enrolled in the Google Play Beta Program.
The Chat Animation feature includes separate toggles for emojis, stickers, and GIFs, giving users the ability to turn off automatic animations.
Users can now choose to stop animated emojis from moving automatically, prevent animated stickers from playing unless tapped, and only allow GIFs to animate when clicked on, rather than autoplaying.
This update aims to cater to users who find constant animations distracting, offering them a more controlled and personalized chat experience.
WhatsApp had previously hinted at disabling autoplay for animated images, and this feature further builds on that idea, providing more granular control over chat content.
Currently, the feature is available to a limited number of users through WhatsApp's Beta program. Once fully developed, it is expected to be released to the broader user base in a future update.
