Street crimes are increasing in Karachi with every passing day and the government despite tall claims seems failing to provide protection to the masses and their properties.
One such incident was caught on camera, showing two youngsters stealing a battery from a vehicle in Karachi's Karimabad area.
In the viral video, two thieves riding a motorcycle can be seen stopping near a parked vehicle. After ensuring no one was seeing them, one of them opened the bonnet of the vehicle and took out the battery.
The incident was recorded by a man from a nearby building who shouted too but the thieves confidently fled with the battery by waving toward him.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested both battery thieves after their video went viral on social media platforms.
According to a report of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on street crimes in Karachi for October 2023, the city witnessed an alarming increase in the rate of crime.
According to the CPLC report, the month of October witnessed a significant surge in street crimes, with 4,396 motorbikes stolen and 817 two-wheelers snatched at gunpoint.
Additionally, 182 vehicles were reported as snatched, while 25 incidents involved vehicles being snatched at gunpoint. The report indicated that 54 snatched or stolen vehicles and 265 motorbikes were successfully recovered by law enforcement during this period.
As many as 9,464 citizens were deprived of their cellphones during the first four months of 2023, with only 161 recoveries reported. This highlights the prevalence of cellphone robberies, a common street crime affecting a large number of residents.
The report also highlighted a singular bank dacoity incident in October 2023, where private security guards posted at a bank branch in Karachi's SITE area were involved in stealing five million rupees from the cash vault during the night.
