Swabi man shoots dead sister over second marriage

A man killed his sister after she remarried in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Swabi.

The man shot dead his sister near Zaida Bypass, according to the police. Her body was taken to Bacha khan Medical Complex for medico-legal formalities.

Following the incident, the suspect managed to escape the scene.

The victim's husband filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a murder case against the suspect at the Zaida police station.

Explaining the motive behind the killing, the police said the suspect was unhappy with his sister's divorce and subsequent remarriage.

Earlier, in May 2023, a young woman was allegedly shot dead by her bother for “honour” in Phase VI of Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

The suspect had later “confessed” to killing his sister for “honour” during interrogation by the police. He said  his sister had “illicit relations” with a person because of whom he killed her.
