Karachi: There is an announcement given by the Deputy Commissioner South, Javed Nabi Khoso, that until there is not a single missing person found, this building will not be demolished. When the whole search operation is completed, then only we will demolish the building.

Addressing the media in Karachi, DC South Javed Nabi Khoso said that the rescue work performed in Gul Plaza is entering its fifth day, and "efforts are being made to identify the bodies as soon as possible."

He said: “The number of deaths is now 28. However, 17 bodies have been retrieved from the debris and are yet to be identified. Identification of 11 others has been completed."

 He further said: “Eight-five people are missing. Search is going on.”

It was revealed by the DC South that the places of 39 individuals who were reported missing have been found in the Gul Plaza building, but some area in the building has not been accessed by the rescue teams yet. Debris removal activities are in progress in the collapsed area of Gul Plaza.

Heavy machinery and manual methods are being employed for debris removal, but there are some difficulties in lifting the collapsed portion.
