An American woman studying in the Pashto department at Islamia College University Peshawar, publicly expressed her outrage after the university registrar asked her to meet him alone when she went to file a complaint about issues at the hostel.

A video of the female student, reportedly named Dilini Barg, circulated on social media, where she detailed the inappropriate advances made by the university registrar to a crowd of students.

Although several social media accounts have shared information about the incident, no news outlet has yet reported on it.

Dilini, an American citizen learning Pashto at Islamia College, sought assistance from the administration regarding the lack of water, electricity, and food for students on campus.

She described the conditions at the university hostel as “filthy.”

“I went to the registrar, and he said if I wanted to discuss these issues, I should come to his house at night,” she revealed, adding that the official also suggested meeting in a guest house.

“When I told him I would not do this, he refused to help me with my hostel issues,” she stated.

Omar Yawar, the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Advisor for Media & Strategy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), mentioned on X that Dilini is a “Christian US. citizen who moved to Pakistan to learn Pashto after being inspired by her Afghan friends back in the US.”
