Woman found strangled, burned at father's furniture showroom in Gujranwala

A married woman was found burned at her father’s furniture showroom in Gujranwala on Monday.

According to local police, the woman appears to have been strangled with an electric wire before being set on fire using petrol.

Her father found the daughter's burnt body on returning from a local mosque after offering Fajr prayers, they said.

The motive behind the murder could not be determined immediately. However, the woman’s husband is missing with the police suspecting his involvement based on preliminary findings that suggested he strangled his wife.

The 24-year-old victim, who belonged to Dhariwal, had initially married her cousin, and later remarried Sajid from Kot Ishaq after a divorce.

Unfortunately, frequent fights between the victim and Sajid prompted her parents to bring the couple to their village after six months of their marriage.

The victim lived with Sajid in a room connected to her father's furniture showroom.

The police are actively searching for the man, who has been on the run.
