Punjab man kills wife, seven children over poverty

A man killed his wife and seven children on Thursday in Alipur, a Tehsil in Muzaffargarh, Punjab, over poverty, police said.

Police said in the brutal incident, seven children aged between six months to eight years were killed by a hammer attack.

According to the police, the incident occurred due to financial problems being faced by the man. They also confirmed that the suspect has been suffering from a leg disability.

However, as per the details provided by the police, the suspect is a tailor by profession.

Previously, in January, Alipur had faced a similar incident of familicide where a man killed his wife and three young children and later committed suicide.

Last year, in October 2023, a father threw his three children into a canal in the same tehsil and created a fabricated story of their abduction.
