Rangers personnel foiled a robbery at a grocery mart in North Karachi by apprehending three muggers red-handed at the scene.

The incident was captured by the CCTV cameras installed at the shop.

The footage showed three armed robbers storming the mart with guns, threatening the shopkeepers.

However, Rangers personnel stationed in the area were alerted to the robbers’ presence inside the mart.

As the robbers attempted to flee after looting the shop, they noticed the Rangers entering and quickly hid themselves inside.

The law enforcement officers searched the mart and caught the three robbers who were hiding inside.

Despite repeated assurances by the Sindh government, street crime continues to plague the metropolis. A total of 5,951 mugging incidents were reported in August alone, according to the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).

During these incidents, 23 cars and 656 motorcycles were taken at gunpoint while 150 cars and 3,385 bikes were stolen from different parts of Karachi.

At least 1,737 mobile phones were also snatched from citizens.

More than 44,000 criminal incidents were reported in the first seven months of 2024, reflecting the deteriorating law and order situation in the metropolitan city.
