Man with armed guards assaults professor in Karachi’s Sachal area

A senior professor was allegedly assaulted and held against his will by a man accompanied by armed security guards in Karachi’s Sachal area, according to a complaint circulating on social media.

Dr Muhammad Arif Khan Saqi, chairman of the Department of Islamic Learning, was reportedly travelling with an online car driver when their vehicle was allegedly hit by a vehicle described as a black pickup.

According to the account, Khan asked the driver of the pickup to compensate for the damage, saying the affected vehicle belonged to a person who could not afford to bear the repair costs.

The exchange reportedly escalated after the pickup driver became enraged. The professor and the online car driver were allegedly subjected to physical assault by the man and his armed security guards.

The professor was also allegedly dragged into a hotel and kept there against his will, where he was reportedly beaten further.
