Police in Rawalpindi’s Kallar Syedan area have arrested a teacher accused of brutally beating a student for failing to memorize his Quranic lesson at a private school.

A video circulating on social media showed a teacher violently assaulting a young student at a local religious school.

After verifying the authenticity of the video, police registered a case at the Kallar Syedan Police Station.

The FIR, filed by police constable Kamran Yaqoob, stated that while he was on duty in the area, he came across a video clip on social media showing a schoolteacher severely beating a child.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the incident took place at a private school’s Kallar Syedan campus, where the victim, Arman Asif, a student enrolled in the Hifz (Quran memorization) program, was assaulted by his instructor, Qari Akash, for not memorizing his lesson properly.

The FIR further noted that corporal punishment in educational institutions is a criminal offense under Punjab law, and that teacher Muhammad Akash violated the law by physically assaulting the student.
