Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar on Sunday said that the provincial government has decided to form a judicial commission to ensure a transparent investigation into the murder of young businessman Mir Raza Ali.

Speaking to the media after visiting the victim's residence along with Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, Lanjar said a letter would be sent to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court on Monday, requesting the formation of the judicial commission.

The minister met the victim's family and offered condolences, assuring them of a transparent investigation. He said a new investigation team, headed by DIG Aamir Farooqi, would conduct the probe and the government wanted the case to reach its logical conclusion so that the victim's parents could have confidence in the investigation.

Lanjar said any police officer trusted by the victim's family could also be included in the investigation team. He added that even minor pieces of evidence could play an important role in solving a major case.

The home minister said the judicial commission would review the two medical reports prepared in connection with the Mir Raza case. He said the matter of the conflicting reports would be left for the commission or the court to decide.
