Suzuki driver killed in crossfire as police, robbers exchange fire in Karachi

A Suzuki pickup driver was killed after being caught in an exchange of fire between police and suspected robbers near Nasir Jump in Korangi on Friday, while two suspects were arrested in an injured condition, police said.
The incident occurred near PNT Colony Gate No. 5, where police engaged armed suspects in a shootout. The Korangi Industrial Area SHO said the deceased, identified as 38-year-old Ubaidullah, was fatally struck by gunfire during the exchange.
Police arrested two injured suspects, identified as 17-year-old Rizwan and 18-year-old Abdullah, recovering two pistols and a motorcycle from their possession. According to police, both suspects are residents of Korangi's Ibrahim Hyderi and Korangi 100 Quarters.
At Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, the victim's brother said Ubaidullah was sitting in his Suzuki pickup when he was hit by a bullet. He said the deceased was the father of four children and the fifth among seven brothers. The family said they did not know whose bullet struck him, while police maintained he was killed by robbers' gunfire.
The latest incident has raised the number of people killed in robbers' firing in Karachi to 46.
