Two passenger launches collided near Keamari Gate No. 1 in Karachi.
According to rescue officials, one woman lost her life in the accident, while seven people were rescued, including women and children, some of whom were found in a semi-conscious state.
SSP Amjad Sheikh stated that 20 to 25 passengers were on board the launches. Around 10 to 12 injured individuals have been shifted to a private hospital.
He added that the condition of two rescued children is critical.
The SSP further confirmed that the affected launches were traveling from Keamari Manora to Baba Bhit and that additional police personnel have been deployed at the site.
Earlier in February this year. Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) confirmed that 16 Pakistani migrants lost their lives when a boat capsized off Libya’s coast.
A team from the Pakistani Embassy in Tripoli visited Zawiya city, where officials reported that 63 Pakistanis were on board.
Authorities have recovered 16 bodies, identified through passports, while 37 survivors are in police custody or receiving medical care.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Foreign Office to ensure updates on the situation and take strict action against human traffickers.
