A 35-year-old married woman was killed after suspected robbers opened fire in Karachi’s Nazimabad area.
According to the police, the firing incident took place on Saturday night. A case has been registered against unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants.
The victim, identified as Samina, was travelling with her family in an online taxi to attend a wedding ceremony when the incident occurred. Investigators believe the gunmen may have fired out of panic while fleeing after an attempted street crime elsewhere.
They said two suspects riding a motorcycle opened fire near the residential lane adjacent to Annu Bhai Park. A bullet struck Samina in the face as she sat in the back seat of the car with her family.
“It is possible the suspects were robbers who panicked when citizens resisted,” a police official stated. “There was no attempted robbery on the victim’s family. They were simply passing through the area when the shooting happened.”
The shooting occurred at around 10pm on Saturday. Samina was rushed first to AO Clinic for initial treatment and later referred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Nazimabad police have registered a murder case on the complaint of the victim’s husband, Muhammad Adnan, a resident of Tauheed Colony, Orangi Town.
