Top officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) met in Dubai and held discussions aimed at resolving the Asia Cup trophy dispute.
The meeting, which took place informally on the sidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC) board session, focused on finding a mutually agreeable solution to end the stalemate.
Quoting BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, Indian media reported that although the discussion was not part of the ICC’s official agenda, the council helped facilitate an informal meeting between him and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
“We met for about an hour. Both sides showed a positive approach to finding a way forward,” the BCCI official said. “We are exploring several options that will be shared in the coming days. With this constructive attitude, I believe the issue will be resolved sooner than expected.”

The controversy dates back to September 28, when India won the T20 Asia Cup in Dubai but declined to receive the winners’ trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
The eight-nation Asia Cup drew significant attention amid political tensions between Pakistan and India — two nuclear-armed neighbours who faced each other in an international cricket tournament just four months after a brief military escalation following the April 22 Pahalgam attack in India illegally-occupied Kashmir that left 26 local tourists dead.
