Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has stated that there are currently no plans to construct a stadium in Islamabad.

Speaking to Geo News, the CDA Chairman clarified that although there is no immediate intention to build a cricket stadium in the capital, the city will see the development of 25 cricket grounds and 25 football grounds.

He further mentioned that a meeting was held with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the construction of a stadium in Islamabad.

The final decision on location will be made based on expert opinions. Specialists will determine the most suitable site for the stadium, should it move forward.

The Chairman acknowledged the poor condition of existing cricket grounds in Islamabad and asserted the need to upgrade pitches to meet international standards.

Muhammad Ali Randhawa also stated that there are plans to develop grounds for various sports across Islamabad.

Former cricketer Rashid Latif is assisting with the upgrade of the ground at F-9 Park.

It is worth noting that earlier reports suggested that CDA had decided to build a stadium in Islamabad’s F-9 Park.

However, following public backlash, the CDA clarified that there are no plans to construct a new stadium in the park.
