Former team director Muhammad Hafeez in his latest revelations alleged team management of averting the trainer to persist the fitness level of players.
Hafeez quoted a trainer, who told him that the decision was made in the presence of ex. skipper Babar Azam and head coach Mickey Arthur.
43-year-old former captain, who had said earlier that he would uncover cricketing and non-cricketing facts behind bad performances said, “At Australia tour, I gave fitness guidelines to players, and asked trainer about their fitness level, the response was shocking to me.”
According to Hafeez, he [trainer] said, “Six months ago, team director, foreign head coach [Mickey Arthur] and captain [Babar Azam] told me that fitness is not the priority at the moment.”
“Let them play the cricket the way they want,” Hafeez quoted the trainer.
The former all-rounder said that when he checked the team’s fitness level it was revealed to him that all players were crossing the fate level multiple times.
He added, “Some of the players couldn’t have completed the running criteria of a two-kilometre run.”
