Pakistan set unwanted away Test record after West Indies defeat

Pakistan recorded the longest away losing streak in their Test history after suffering an eighth consecutive defeat on foreign soil with a 90-run loss to the West Indies in the opening Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.

The defeat extended Pakistan's winless run in away Tests, which began during the team's tour of Australia in December 2023. Since then, Pakistan have lost three Tests in Australia, two in South Africa, two in Bangladesh and the latest fixture against the West Indies.

Chasing a target of 211, Pakistan were bowled out for 120 in their second innings despite an unbeaten 58 from returning captain Babar Azam. Mohammad Abbas was the only other notable contributor, scoring 23 runs.

West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales starred with the ball, claiming 5-20 to dismantle Pakistan's batting line-up. Kemar Roach and Justin Greaves picked up two wickets each, while Shamar Joseph claimed one.

The result gave the West Indies a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
