The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has created a new ‘senior team manager’ position and appointed former cricketer Wahab Riaz on Tuesday to lead it. This move has raised eyebrows, as the PCB already has a team manager in place.

According to sources, Wahab Riaz's newly created senior team manager position will involve overseeing the selection policy for the New Zealand series. This includes planning player rotation for each match and ensuring the team adheres to the selection plan.

His input on the playing XI will be crucial. He will also monitor the workload of each player.

The former left-arm pacer met with the players on Monday to discuss the selection policy for the upcoming New Zealand series.

The cricket board has introduced a series of changes ahead of the Green Shirts' clash with the Kiwis.

PCB has named former fast bowler Azhar Mahmood as the head coach for the upcoming national team series.

Legendary batsman Mohammad Yousuf will be joining the coaching staff as the batting coach.

Former spinner Saeed Ajmal, who guided the bowlers on the recent trips to Australia and New Zealand, will retain his position as the spin bowling coach.

The five-match T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played in Lahore and Rawalpindi, starting on April 18 and concluding on April 24.
