Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle has voiced his excitement over the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India, scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, Gayle said the fixture remained one of the biggest attractions in world cricket.

“It’s the #IndvsPak game again and it always brings excitement for fans across the globe. Both teams have moved on from their superstars, and it’s the new era for the rivalry. The atmosphere will be great and I hope for a cracker of a game. #AsiaCup2025,” he posted.

Both teams enter the contest after emphatic wins in their opening matches. India dismissed hosts UAE for 57 before chasing the target inside five overs. Pakistan registered a 93-run victory against Oman, posting 160-7 and bowling out the opposition for 67.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Haris led the batting effort with 66 off 43 balls, while spinner Sufiyan Muqeem impressed with 2-7 in three overs.

Despite Pakistan’s strong start, the overall T20I record remains in India’s favour. Out of 13 contests, India have won 10, while Pakistan have prevailed on three occasions. In the Asia Cup T20 format, the sides have met three times, with India winning twice and Pakistan once.
