According to the reports shared with members of the House Armed Services Committee, it suggests that any mine-clearing operation is unlikely to begin until the ongoing conflict ends.

The Strait is a key transit route for nearly 20% of global petroleum trade. While the exact impact of any conflict remains difficult to independently verify in real time, energy market analysts have confirmed increased instability in global oil prices due to it.

On April 8, the United States formally accepted Iran’s 10-point proposal as the foundation for a permanent ceasefire.

Iran will continue ensuring the security of the strait, and “enemy-affiliated vessels do not and will not have the right to pass through the Strait of Hormuz”, the forces’ statement said.
