The caretaker government has issued an order for 2 million undocumented “illegal immigrants” to leave Pakistan, citing concerns about national security and legal compliance.
The decision has led to a wave of debate among various stakeholders with Afghan refugees’ lawyer and civil societies argue that it's not within the interim government’s mandate and they express deep concern over the uncertain future that awaits Afghan refugees, especially women, under the Taliban-controlled government in Afghanistan.
They also fear that Afghan refugees’ access to education and overall quality of life will be severely compromised in Afghanistan.
