Afghan national admits to sexually abusing 12-year-old girl in UK court

An Afghan national has admitted to raping a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton, England.

Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, appeared at Warwick Crown Court on Friday, where he changed his earlier plea and accepted a charge of raping a child under 13 on 22 July.

Mulakhil, who is listed as having no fixed address, had previously rejected accusations at an August hearing, including child abduction, three further counts of child rape, and two allegations of sexually assaulting a girl under 13.

He was brought before the court alongside another Afghan national, Mohammad Kabir, also 23 and also without a permanent address.

During the earlier proceedings, Kabir pleaded not guilty to attempting to take a child, assisting in the rape of a girl under 13, and intentionally strangling her. In court, Kabir confirmed only his identity, while Mulakhil stated his name before entering the guilty plea when the charge was read again.

Both defendants are scheduled for trial on 26 January and will remain in custody until then.
