A new research revealed that British Muslims are the biggest contributors to charities in the United Kingdom (UK), donating four times more than the average Briton.

The "UK Muslims' Giving Behaviour" report found that British Muslims donated an average of £708 to charity over 12 months, while the average local Briton gave £165.

Those earning between £75,000-£100,000 give the most to charity, with 61 percent of Muslims giving zakat to Muslim charities and 14 percent to secular organisations.

One in two Muslims expressed willingness to give Zakat (an annual mandatory payment) to non-Muslim charity organisations.

British Muslims support a wide range of causes through their Zakat contributions which shows how a single donation can achieve multiple goals.

Muslim donors are also leading in international giving, with three out of four Muslims already contributing to charities supporting Gaza.

In addition to charity work, Muslims are actively involved in volunteer activities for community organisations.
