Jeffrey Epstein’s estate has agreed to pay $35 million to settle a class action lawsuit accusing two longtime advisers of helping facilitate the Jeffery Epstein’s sex-trafficking operation.
According to reports, the deal would resolve claims brought on behalf of women who claim they were abused or trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein between 1995 till his death in a New York jail in August 2019.
Lawyers from Boies Schiller Flexner, representing the accused, said the agreement was filed in federal court in Manhattan and still needs approval by a judge before taking effect.
The lawsuit targeted Epstein’s former personal lawyer Darren Indyke and former accountant Richard Kahn, who serve as co-executors of his estate.
Under the proposed terms, the estate would pay $35 million if at least 40 eligible claimants participate, or $25 million if fewer qualify.
Lawyers for Indyke and Kahn said neither of them have admitted wrongdoing and that they agreed to mediate only to achieve a final settlement for those claims. Both have previously denied any criminal conduct.
Epstein’s estate has already paid about $121 million through a compensation program and an additional $49 million in separate settlements, according to court filings.
