“Gaza death toll already greater than 92,000,” US doctors reveal in open letter to govt

In an open letter to US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, 45 American doctors who worked in Gaza hospitals revealed that the death toll is "many times higher than reported" by the Palestinian health ministry, based on the devastation they witnessed.

The US doctors recounted their harrowing eye-witness accounts during the ongoing Israeli military offensive in Gaza, which has overwhelmed hospitals and left the wounded, pregnant women, and sick individuals in an extremely dire state due to a lack of medical supplies and the collapse of infrastructure.

"It is likely that the death toll is already greater than 92,000, an astonishing 4.2% of Gaza’s population."

The medics stated that with only marginal exceptions, everyone in Gaza is either sick, injured, or both. This includes every national aid worker, international volunteer, and likely every Israeli hostage: every man, woman, and child.

Women have undergone C-sections without anesthesia, and malnourished mothers fed formula milk mixed with contaminated water to their underweight infants.

Children grapple with numerous illnesses and the horrors of war, as hospitals daily receive children shot in the head or chest by the Israeli army.

"President and Dr Biden, we wish you could see the nightmares that plague so many of us since we have returned: dreams of children maimed and mutilated by our weapons and their inconsolable mothers begging us to save them.

"The hospitals where we worked were starved of basic supplies, from surgical materials to soap."

The American doctors asserted that “Palestinian health workers are among the most traumatied people in Gaza, and perhaps the entire world.” 

Despite being targets of the Israeli army, they continue to work grueling hours at the hospitals.  

The doctors urged the Biden administration to cease financial, diplomatic, and military aid to Israel and demanded an arms embargo on both Israeli and Palestinian armed groups unless a ceasefire is established.
